When you are planning for retirement, do you primarily think about the financial aspect? There is no doubt that this is a critical component. Without diligent preparation financially, retirement may be short and require a return to the workforce, or retirement may be lived at a standard far below what you had anticipated.
But is that all there is to planning for retirement? Absolutely not!
Many plan retirement to be completely leisurely activities. Travel, golf, hobbies, ……
These are all great ideas to take up some of your time. Many people, however, find that retirement filled exclusively with leisure, as appealing as it is to think of during the intense years of work, is really a little bit empty.
Retirement brings many changes. What will it really mean to not have to go to the office or other place of employment? What does that mean for your relationships? Routine? Responsibilities? Thinking ahead and giving this great part of life some forethought can not only be rewarding, it can be a lot of fun!
